Mastering a Skill

Mastering a skill is a desire that gives players the feeling of pride, status, and honor. This also gives a player a sense of progress, of improving, of getting better at something.


A player who gets the feeling of becoming better, will derive satisfaction from her new skills and continue interacting with the system. In order to continue over alonger period, the system needs to adjust the difficulty level. The more skilled a player becomes, the more difficult the task have to become to keep the player in the flow, or the more complex or different the tasks have become. A beginner will need simpler and easier tasks to reach the feeling of accomplishment and mastery quickly, while an experienced player needs more complex and tasks with longer duration but higher rewards to derive satisfaction and feeling mastery - and ultimately remain interacting with the system.
